Define the actual deliverable before searching

Write down whether you need an editable mockup, vector artwork, a background photo or a final raster image. Decide the output size, editor and intended use before downloading several similar previews.

Use the official resource search and inspect the item itself. Check the format before choosing it for your project, especially when the final image needs editable text, layers or vector shapes.

Read the formats listed on the chosen resource

The provider resource page lists the available download types. Choose a format compatible with the software you actually use and check whether the package includes editable layers/source files or only a rendered image.

For example, a JPG preview is not automatically an editable PSD mockup, and a raster image is not the same as vector paths. Open the actual source file before committing to it for a client deadline.

Inspect the download before a deadline

Extract an archive when supplied, read its included instructions and open a working copy in the intended editor. Check linked fonts/media, missing layers and the export dimensions you need. Keep the original archive so you can return to an unchanged source.

AI generation/upscaling uses a separate system. Check AI credits versus stock downloads before assuming a download count can fund a video or an upscale action.

Keep an asset record you can hand to another editor

Suggested fields: resource URL/identifier, chosen format, download date, account/permission context, applicable license document, attribution requirement and project destination. Verify that a document actually relates to the downloaded asset.

The provider’s download and license guidance explains how to obtain available license documents. Confirm your actual entitlement/account arrangement rather than assuming a shared store login creates a document in your own name.
